As soon as we walked in I knew that I was going to like this restaurant. The decor was a crisp white with accents in blues and greens to match the gulf. Tables were casually set with simple salt and pepper grinders and a small wild flower or herb clipping at each table. Frogs appeared throughout the restaurant in a tasteful style.
The lunch menu consisted of a “mis be have” section, with a variety of fried seafood baskets, po-boys and burgers, fried grouper fish tacos, chicken tenders and a bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato.
We ordered from the “be have” section, which offered salads and spa-inspired wraps and such. Matt had the Curry Chicken Salad for $12 and I chose the Wild Salmon BLT wrap. We were both extremely pleased with our choices.
His salad came with fresh organic greens, dried fruits, nuts and celery plus cherry tomatoes and carrots. It was beautiful, bright, delicious and plentiful!
My wrap was filled with a generous portion of wild salmon, those same organic greens, applewood smoked bacon, tomato and guacamole. I was also offered a side dish from the daily chalkboard and I chose the creamy mushroom soup.
Considering the quality of the ingredients, the portion sizes and the location of this restaurant, the price was surprising. You will probably find a lower priced salad than $12 but not one of this size and definitely not one filled with the superior ingredients used at George’s.
We left very satisfied and looking forward to our next experience at George’s!
