We have been to Saffron a few times and have always enjoyed the food. Being from a much more multi-cultural area, I wondered if the Indian food here would be very good but this place met my high standards.
We always order the Naan, a simple soft flatbread. The garlic naan is especially delicious! The Samosas, a potato based vegetarian appetizer, are also very good.
Last night we got the Lamb Vindaloo (dark red dish in the photo) and the Chicken Tikka Masala (yellow-ish dish). The Vindaloo is good but much too spicy for me. I like spice but this was over the top spicy and I guess I am a wimp when it comes to spicy Indian food. I much preferred the Tikka Masala. We ordered ours mild and it was just right. There was still a kick and lots of flavor from the combination of tomato and spices in a yogurt based sauce.
is usually not very busy so the service is fast and friendly in our experience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than one other table with customers while we dine and it is usually on a weekend evening. Possibly they are busier during the day because they do offer a lunch buffet.
It is not the most elegant place but when we are looking for some varied tastes and I get to craving ethnic food choices, Saffron is high on the list of our go-to dining adventures.
You can find Saffron at 4012 W. 23rd Street in Panama City. It is not too far over the bridge and worth the drive.
