The newest restaurant to hit Panama City Beach, Deadeye Dick’s Steakhouse, will open in one week if all goes as planned.

I don’t usually write about a restaurant I have not tried out myself but after spending over an hour with chef/ owner, Beany MacGregor, I hated to keep this all to myself until others get the opportunity to check them out!  And believe me, I plan to eat there within a week of their opening.

Though the restaurant is not completely set up yet, you can get a feel for the place when you first walk in.  It’s definitely a casual, comfortable setting with a wild west theme, typical of many steakhouses across the country.

The western decor, though, is where “typical” ends.  Chef Beany constructed a truly inventive menu compared to most steakhouses.  You will find the menu a bit different than elsewhere.  And everything they serve is top quality and house made.  From sauces to soups to ice cream and desserts to house ground beef, turkey or duck for the burgers, to home made sausage, this place is doing it all on site.  The 100% USDA choice beef is all cut fresh on the premises.  The fries are cut fresh, the salad dressings are all house made.  I was able to see the on-site smoker right in the kitchen that they will use to smoke their own salmon and meats and the wood-burning grill where they will cook over an open fire.

On the appetizer menu you will find some unique choices.  Items such as the House Smoked Salmon, Thai Duck Wings, Portabella Fries and Grilled Sausage Surf and Turf, which is a Maine lobster sausage paired with one made of beef and pork.

I was really impressed by the gourmet salad bar, which can be a meal in itself for $15.99 ($12.99 at lunch for the same amount of items) or can accompany your entree for just $7.99.   There are too many items to list and they will change daily but some of the choices of note were the assorted blends of lettuces (not just iceberg here), a grilled pineapple brulee, garlic sesame edamame, marinated mushrooms, caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella,  grilled asparagus and of course some of the more traditional selections such as fruit salad and macaroni salad.

Prices at Deadeye Dick’s are in the range of the competition for the most part.  A 10 oz USDA Choice sirloin will sell for $16.99 and come with a basket of assorted breads and 2 sides of your choosing.  For those looking for a little savings, you can go for the all you can eat gourmet salad bar for just $15.99 (mentioned above) or choose from at least 10 entrees between $13.99 and $15.99, such as the 8 oz prime rib for $15.99 or the meatloaf, 1/2 smoked chicken or chicken tenderloin kabob for just $13.99.  These entrees also come with the bread basket and 2 sides.

Deadeye Dick’s plans to add a Sunday Brunch within a couple of weeks of opening and they also have plenty of space for large parties for all kinds of events.

This place has been a few years in the making and there has definitely been a lot of thought and work put into developing a unique dining experience here in Panama City Beach!

The restaurant will be located at 9802 Front Beach Rd. right next door to its sister restaurant, Dirty Dick’s Crab House.
