We first tried Sweet Basil’s Italian Bistro several months ago and really enjoyed it. As much as I love Italian food it only gets better when seafood gets involved and on that visit I had the Seafood Florentine pizza. It was delicious! The crust, a big deal breaker for me, was just the right thickness and crispy with good flavor. The toppings were just right; shrimp, scallops, spinach and pesto. You can also choose alfredo sauce or regular red sauce. I wish I could remember what Matt had but it was good enough for him to recommend that we try it again after much too long away. He’s not nearly as big of an Italian food lover as I am but I know that he walked out that first time very pleased with the delicious meal. This time we started out with an order of cheesy garlic bread. It was delicious, though we didn’t really need it. It was nice to have today with my leftovers though. I chose the Mediterranean Seafood pasta with bay shrimp and scallops, sun dried tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and olives and feta. I asked for some artichoke hearts to be added and they kindly obliged.
Matt had the Venetian Pizza. Topped with onions, pepperoni and ham, it looked great and he said it was. I was too busy enjoying my pasta to take a bite and my aversion to onions didn’t exactly help. The meal for two, which included a salad and a warm basket of bread, came to just under $50 after tax and tip. This was not bad considering that I got lunch out of it today and Matt got two more pizza meals! He wisely chose the large pizza for just that reason.A few other entrees I’d like to try are the Eggplant Parmesan, the Lasagne, The Shrimp Scampi Pasta and maybe sometime even save same room for some of their key lime pie, tiramisu or New York style cheesecake!
