Hours of Surprises at Ripley’s Believe it or Not

I have been in Panama City Beach five years now and until Saturday I still had not entered the big ship that is Ripley’s Believe it or Not!  In fact, I’d never been to any of them around the country.  So, on Saturday, my husband and I decided to go check it out.

We got the combo passes, which gives you entry into the “odditorium” and also the 4D movie.

There was so much to see and do in the Odditorium.  I had mistakenly thought that this was an attraction designed for families with children.  And though there is much for children to enjoy, curious adults will also have fun exploring the exhibits.

Even before walking through the turnstiles, we were greeted by a huge, 24 karat gold coin plated limo.
Across from the limo is a matchstick replica of the Eiffel Tower.

Inside, we saw more incredible replicas and some items behind glass that appear to be authentic.  From unusual animals with two heads to unusual humans of incredible heights, weights, and even extra legs.

There are artifacts from all over the world inside the Ripley’s Believe it or Not!  Odditorium.  You will see a piece of the Berlin wall, money from ancient China, a Tibetan drum made from a loved one’s skull, a model of a tribe woman from Chad, Africa, with plates inserted into her lips to protect her from raiders, effectively making her unattractive.  There is so much to see inside of the museum that will interest all ages.

There are a few activities in the odditorium to keep kids (and adults) entertained.  We got to listen to moving sounds, see our shadows on a wall, and test our knowledge about a variety of topics.  We also walked through the inversion tunnel while trying to keep our balance.   There is also a Laser Race to test your navigation skills.

Upstairs there is a large section dedicated to The Titanic.  Here you will learn just about everything there is to know about the tragic event, including stories about passengers and facts about the sinking. There are artifacts found in the wreckage such as a napkin ring and a fork used in first-class dining.

After spending over two hours, we got the chance to experience the 4D moving theater.  This is like a roller coaster ride with moving seats that go with the movie, simulating a ride.  If you are a coaster fan you will love this!

The day was fun and I would recommend that visitors and locals set aside a few hours to spend at Ripley’s Believe it or Not!  There are things to do and explore for just about any age!

You can find Ripley’s at 9907 Front Beach Road across the street from Wonderworks.  Call to verify their hours:  850-230-6113.
