San Francisco Style Deli in Panama City
Across the bridge in town, close to the Panama City Marina is a quaint little San Francisco-style deli and restaurant called Trigo. Interior brick, chalkboard specials, cafe-style seating, and a display case of their house-made salads make up the decor and the food is definitely a fine example of a corner neighborhood deli in the city by the bay (the “other” bay).
The menu consists of freshly made pizzas, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Plus, there are baked breakfast items and cookies plus local organic, fair-trade coffee.
The ingredients, whether pizza toppings or sandwich fillings, are fresh and the bread is authentic San Francisco sourdough, including the pizza crust.
We had a cup of the delicious tomato-basil soup each, which was one of their featured soups on the evening that we visited. We also shared a couple of pizzas.
One was pepperoni with black olives and (fresh!) mushrooms and the other was a pesto chicken. These were both very good pizzas. I loved the thin, sourdough crust. It held up well for leftovers the next day, too!
Trigo is located at 119 Harrison Ave in Panama City. They are open Monday through Thursday from 7am-9pm, Friday 7am – 10pm and Saturday 9am – 10pm. You can follow their specials on Facebook.
